As a closed-door long-term care pharmacy, we partner with senior living communities to deliver a high standard of quality, accuracy, and patient-centered care. Job Summary The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective service delivery. This role manages staffing, scheduling, and payroll within established budget guidelines, while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements and Board of Pharmacy standards. The Executive Director also leads the recruitment, training, and performance management of pharmacy staff, fostering a high-performing, engaged team. Roles and Responsibilities Maintains appropriate staffing levels to ensure effective operations within budget guidelines. Develops supervisory staff and provides ongoing training and professional development. Manages pharmacy staffing, including hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and separations. Monitors and approves payroll. Ensures appropriate licensed staff coverage in compliance with Board of Pharmacy requirements. Ensures all prescriptions are entered, filled, and dispensed accurately and in a timely, cost-effective manner. Evaluates and implements technology solutions to improve operational efficiency. Directs workflow, identifies areas for improvement, and implements process enhancements. Partners with the Customer Service team to resolve service issues promptly. Collaborates with Billing to ensure prior authorizations and rejections are managed effectively to minimize uncollected revenue; develops processes and training as needed. Oversees purchasing of medications and supplies; manages inventory within budget. Functions as a Pharmacist when needed, as applicable. Serves as an operational liaison to the leadership team, resolving competing priorities. Provides leadership to build and sustain a high-performing team, including continuous performance improvement initiatives. Ensures adherence to infection control protocols to protect patients and staff. Travels minimally, including occasional overnight stays as needed. Recruits, hires, trains, coaches, and develops a team of qualified, motivated individuals. Supports campus, departmental, and company-wide goals and objectives. Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Performs all duties with a positive, team-oriented approach. Maintains all required licenses and certifications in good standing. Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a pharmacy environment required; healthcare, senior living, or long-term care experience preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a high-volume pharmacy and multi-dose packaging systems preferred. Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite. Licenses and Certifications Active Pharmacist license in North Carolina required. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, stretch, stoop, walk, and move intermittently throughout the workday. Ability to lift at least 20 pounds. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with team members, supervisors, residents, family members, vendors, and other business partners.
