Job Overview Responsible for supervising and managing daily operations within the Pharmacy Department. This role ensures the delivery of quality patient care through effective medication preparation and distribution services. Additionally, this position oversees pharmacy personnel, manages medication dispensing programs, pharmacy automation, and inventory. In addition, this role establishes and maintains communication with other departments and external entities, integrating Pharmacy activities and objectives through policies and procedures. The position assures a well-organized workflow, maintains labor productivity, manages financial data, and supports pharmacist and technician scheduling. Additionally, this role assists in the development, implementation, management, evaluation, and promotion of pharmaceutical services to ensure safe and cost-effective medication use. Duties Manages pharmacy operations and programs for assigned areas. Oversees staffing, hiring, terminations, evaluations, coaching, and development of pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. Schedules pharmacy employees to meet productivity targets and department objectives. Serves as a liaison to campus leadership to resolve medication-related issues and support campus strategies. Collaborates with campus leaders and medical staff to promote efficient, high-quality pharmacy care. Ensures compliance with state, federal, and other regulatory requirements. Serves as Consultant of Record with the state Board of Pharmacy, as applicable. Manages medication distribution and promotes optimal medication utilization. Minimizes medication/product waste, maximizes inventory turns, and improves staff productivity. Maintains pharmacy practices consistent with contemporary hospital standards, patient-centered clinical services, therapeutics, professional standards, and pharmacy innovations. Ensures medication preparation and distribution follow evidence-based best practices, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws. Assists the Director of Pharmacy with budget preparation. Manages assigned budgets, financial resources, cost-control initiatives, and surveillance programs. Collaborates with healthcare providers and decentralized pharmacy staff to provide patient-centered care and appropriate medication therapy. Serves as a preceptor and educator for pharmacy residency and student experiential education programs. Maintains proficiency in preceptor responsibilities, education, and mentorship. Performs pharmacist functions and maintains operational proficiency through staffing. Participates in medication dispensing and compounding activities. Experience Doctorate [Required]
Field of Study:
in pharmacy in health administration, pharmacy, pharmacy administration, business administration, or other advanced degree in pharmacy or healthcare leadership
Work Experience:
1+ years of pharmaceutical experience [Preferred] 5+ years of pharmacy practice experience in a large hospital (greater than 500 bed institution) and integrated healthcare system (three or more hospitals in system) [Preferred] PGY-1 pharmacy resident or equivalent experience [Preferred] PGY2 Specialty Residency or Fellowship or equivalent experience. [Preferred]
