Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Direct Hire Lead the pharmacy operations of a community-focused acute care hospital as the working Director of Pharmacy, holding the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) license. This direct hire, permanent opportunity is based in New Kensington, PA, offering a balanced schedule to support both leadership and hands-on clinical responsibilities.
Schedule/Hours:
Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM Rotating weekend coverage with about 4 hours of flexible time; compensating weekday off provided when weekend shifts are worked
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily pharmacy operations while actively participating in dispensing and clinical activities Manage and mentor a small, close-knit pharmacy team including 1 full-time staff pharmacist, 1 full-time pharmacy technician, and 2 per diem pharmacists Maintain compliance and operational standards using current Med Host and paper systems, with an upcoming transition to EPIC Balance administrative tasks with direct patient care to ensure high-quality pharmacy services
Qualifications:
Acute care hospital pharmacy experience is essential Pharmacy management or director-level experience strongly preferred Must be comfortable with a hands-on leadership style, engaging in both clinical and operational duties daily Pennsylvania Pharmacist License required or the willingness to obtain one Strong administrative, clinical, and operational skills Retail-only pharmacy experience is not suitable for this role This position offers a unique blend of supervisory, clinical, and operational functions, demanding a leader who thrives on active engagement and teamwork rather than a purely administrative role.
