Job Description
Overview We are seeking an experienced Director of Pharmacy Implementations to lead the design, execution, and launch of strategic pharmacy programs and initiatives for a growing specialty pharmacy organization in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a highly collaborative, client-facing leadership role that works cross-functionally across Pharmacy Operations, Business Operations, Compliance, and Technology to deliver successful program implementations. Responsibilities Own the full implementation lifecycle for new specialty pharmacy programs including workflow design, system setup, process optimization, progress tracking, problem resolution, testing, documentation, hypercare, and training Serve as a primary client-facing contact, building and maintaining strong relationships with manufacturer partners, external clients, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care coordination Collaborate with technology teams to oversee configuration and maintenance of pharmacy systems and platforms to effectively support specialty programs Work cross-functionally with internal teams to develop system enhancements, facilitate program needs assessments, and resolve operational roadblocks Support sales and business development efforts including evaluating prospective client needs, contributing to solutioning conversations, and development of Statements of Work Ensure all program designs comply with applicable regulations and accreditation standards including URAC and ACHC; modify SOPs and create working instruction documents as needed Lead post-implementation reviews, document lessons learned, and develop actionable improvement plans Lead and develop an implementations team including hiring, performance management, scheduling, and task delegation Stay current on specialty pharmacy developments and deliver ongoing education and training to pharmacy staff Utilize pharmacy management software to monitor outcomes, manage inventory, and report on program performance Provide clinical pharmacist support including dispensing of specialty medications as needed Required Qualifications Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited pharmacy school Active pharmacist license in good standing with the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy Willingness to obtain and maintain additional state pharmacist licensure(s) as needed Strong knowledge of specialty pharmacy operations including workflow design, systems configuration, and program implementation 3-5+ years of experience in a specialty pharmacy setting Proven ability to lead and develop teams including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills High level of independent judgment, initiative, and time management in a fast-paced environment Strong commitment to patient care and quality assurance Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively across a cross-functional organization Preferred Qualifications Experience managing pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in a specialty pharmacy setting Experience with specialty pharmacy dispensing and management systems Multi-state pharmacist licensure MBA or advanced business degree Work Environment This position is primarily office-based with remote flexibility based on operational needs and business priorities. Candidates must be within commuting distance of Pittsburgh, PA and have a reliable home office setup with stable internet access for remote days. Equipment is provided.
