Description The Hampton University School of Pharmacy invites nominations and applications for a highly motivated and innovative individual to serve as Director of Assessment and Chief Assessment Officer beginning Fall 2026 (or until filled). This is a 12-month appointment consisting of 50% administrative release time and 50% faculty responsibilities, with appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Director serves as the School's Chief Assessment Officer and provides strategic leadership for institutional assessment, continuous quality improvement (CQI), educational effectiveness, accreditation readiness, curriculum evaluation, and data-informed decision-making. About Hampton University Founded in 1868, Hampton University (HU) is a leading Historically Black University (HBCU) located on the Virginia Peninsula in the City of Hampton. HU is a privately endowed, co educational, nonsectarian institution. It is located on the east coast of Virginia in the picturesque Hampton Roads area that includes the cities of Hampton, Norfolk, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Newport News. Description of the School Hampton University School of Pharmacy established a new Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program that has achieved approval of Candidate Status from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in July 2025. The School has already enrolled students into the program with an anticipated graduation date for its first cohort in May 2028. The school currently offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, along with minors in Pharmaceutical Science, Environmental Health Science, and Public Health. Mission of the Hampton University School of Pharmacy Our mission is to produce a cadre of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists who have a keen awareness and understanding of the health inequities encountered by underserved and vulnerable populations. Our vision is to be a leader in pharmacy education, scientific discovery, and scholarship that prepares graduates to address the healthcare needs of medically underserved and diverse populations. Duties and Responsibilities for the position: The Director reports directly to the Dean and serves as the School's Chief Assessment Officer. The Director is a member of the Dean's Executive Council and collaborates with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Experiential Education, faculty, and University leadership to ensure assessment is embedded in strategic planning, curriculum innovation, accreditation, and student success. The appointment consists of 50% administrative leadership and 50% faculty responsibilities including teaching, scholarship, service, and student mentoring. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Serve as the School's Chief Assessment Officer and member of the Dean's Executive Council. Lead the School's Comprehensive Assessment Plan (CAP) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program. Coordinate annual assessment planning, implementation, reporting, and closing-the-loop activities. Lead assessment efforts supporting ACPE Standards 2025 and maintain accreditation evidence repositories. Coordinate curriculum assessment, mapping to ACPE Standards, CAPE Outcomes, COEPA competencies, and Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs). Oversee assessment technologies, with proficiency in the utilization and management of student assessment platforms including ExamSoft, Nuventive, Enflux, and others. Oversee the development and implementation of the Hampton University Competency Examination. Develop predictive analytics supporting early alerts, APPE readiness, progression, and licensure readiness. Provide leadership in psychometrics, blueprinting, item analysis, and examination quality. Coordinate faculty development in assessment literacy, blueprinting, examination writing, CQI, ACPE Standards 2025, and educational assessment. Assist in the development of executive dashboards for enrollment, retention, progression, graduation, NAPLEX, MPJE, faculty productivity, curriculum outcomes, and strategic plan metrics. Assist the Dean in evaluating strategic plan metrics and institutional effectiveness. Prepare annual assessment reports and present findings to School leadership and faculty. Foster a culture in which assessment informs decision-making and continuous improvement rather than compliance alone. Teach in areas of expertise. Advise and mentor students. Serve on School and University committees. Maintain an active program of scholarship. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Qualifications Required Qualifications:

Terminal degree in Pharmacy (PharmD), Pharmaceutical Sciences, Education, Health Professions, Assessment, Higher Education Administration, or a related discipline. Eligibility for appointment at Assistant Professor or higher. Demonstrated experience in academic assessment, institutional effectiveness, CQI, or accreditation. Experience with ExamSoft, Nuventive, Enflux, or comparable systems. Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Experience with ACPE accreditation.

Other Preferred Qualifications:

Experience leading assessment in pharmacy or health professions education. Expertise in psychometrics, curriculum assessment, dashboard development, and predictive analytics. Experience leading faculty development. Record of scholarship in assessment, educational research, or pharmacy education.
