Business casual Job Summary We are seeking a highly qualified and dynamic Director of Pharmacy to lead our pharmacy services within a comprehensive healthcare setting. This leadership role requires an expert in clinical and operational pharmacy practices, with a focus on ensuring pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, optimizing medication management, and delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hospital pharmacy experience, including critical care, trauma center operations, and specialized areas such as pediatrics and oncology. As Director of Pharmacy, you will oversee pharmacy staff, develop policies, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance medication safety and efficacy across all departments. Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership for hospital pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with all pharmaceutical regulations and standards. Oversee medication management processes including IV infusion preparation, aseptic technique, drug regulation adherence, and pharmacotherapeutics. Lead efforts to optimize patient safety through effective medication reconciliation, patient assessment, and pharmacology expertise. Manage pharmacy staff including precepting pharmacy residents and supporting ongoing professional development. Collaborate with clinical teams in high-acuity areas such as

ICU, PICU

(Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), emergency room, and Level I/II trauma centers to ensure appropriate medication use. Implement and maintain hospital pharmacy information systems (PIS) and EMR/EHR platforms for accurate documentation and medication tracking. Ensure pharmaceutical regulatory compliance across all hospital departments while managing drug inventory, IV compounding, and medication administration protocols. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by analyzing medication usage data, overseeing quality assurance initiatives, and leading process improvements. Facilitate education on topics such as acute pain management, oncology pharmacology, physiology knowledge, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and post-residency practice standards. Support hospital-wide initiatives related to patient service excellence and medication safety. Skills Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy settings with demonstrated leadership in managing diverse clinical teams. Strong background in managed care principles and familiarity with drug regulation policies. Proven expertise in critical care environments including ICU, PICU, emergency room settings, and trauma centers (Level I & II). In-depth knowledge of pharmacology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacotherapeutics, pain management (including acute pain), oncology medications, and medication administration practices. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS). Experience with aseptic technique, IV infusion preparation/compounding, drug regulation compliance, and IV compounding procedures. Ability to assess patients comprehensively through patient assessment skills to inform optimal medication therapy. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams; experience in precepting pharmacy residents is preferred. Familiarity with hospital experience standards including hospital medicine practices and acute care protocols. Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to pharmacy practice; practicing as a pharmacist with post-residency experience is highly desirable.
