Pharmacy Manager A progressive, mission-driven healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Manager to provide strategic leadership while actively participating in the day-to-day delivery of pharmacy services. This is a working manager position that requires an individual who enjoys leading from the front—balancing operational oversight with direct patient care and clinical responsibilities. The Pharmacy Manager will oversee all aspects of pharmacy operations, including regulatory compliance, staff leadership, financial stewardship, quality improvement, and inventory management, while serving as a practicing pharmacist. A strong working knowledge of the 340B Drug Pricing Program is essential, as this role will provide oversight and strategic direction for the organization's 340B program to ensure regulatory compliance, maximize program effectiveness, and support patient access to affordable medications. Essential ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Management Lead the daily operations of the pharmacy while maintaining a visible, hands-on leadership presence. Recruit, develop, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Establish operational goals and performance metrics while ensuring efficient workflows and exceptional customer service. Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and best practices. Partner with executive leadership and clinical teams to support organizational initiatives and strategic growth. Promote employee engagement, professional development, and a positive workplace culture. Clinical Responsibilities Function as a practicing pharmacist by accurately dispensing medications, verifying prescriptions, and counseling patients. Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to optimize medication therapy and improve patient outcomes. Promote medication safety initiatives and ensure adherence to evidence-based clinical practices. Support medication therapy management, patient education, and quality improvement activities. 340B Program Leadership Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the 340B Drug Pricing Program. Ensure ongoing compliance with HRSA regulations and all applicable federal requirements. Monitor purchasing, replenishment, inventory management, split billing, and contract pharmacy relationships. Collaborate with finance, compliance, and executive leadership to maximize program integrity and financial performance. Coordinate internal reviews and external audits while maintaining complete and accurate documentation. Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and optimize program savings while maintaining full regulatory compliance. Operational & Financial Management Oversee pharmacy budgets, purchasing, inventory controls, and medication procurement. Monitor key operational and financial performance indicators. Ensure appropriate inventory levels while minimizing waste and maximizing cost efficiency. Evaluate pharmacy workflows and implement process improvements that enhance productivity and patient satisfaction. Utilize data and reporting to support operational decision-making. Compliance & Quality Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations. Ensure adherence to DEA requirements, medication security standards, and applicable accreditation requirements. Maintain quality assurance and continuous performance improvement initiatives. Develop corrective action plans when needed and ensure ongoing regulatory readiness. QualificationsRequired Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college or school of pharmacy. Current pharmacist licensure in good standing or ability to obtain licensure in the applicable state. Minimum of three (3) years of progressive pharmacy leadership or management experience. Demonstrated expertise with the 340B Drug Pricing Program, including regulatory compliance and operational management. Strong understanding of outpatient pharmacy operations, inventory management, reimbursement, and regulatory requirements. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively lead change, solve complex problems, and build collaborative relationships across multiple departments. Preferred Experience in an ambulatory care, outpatient, community health, or integrated healthcare setting. Experience leading pharmacy operational improvement initiatives. Knowledge of pharmacy automation systems and electronic health record platforms. Experience managing pharmacy budgets and financial performance. Certification or advanced training in pharmacy administration or ambulatory care is a plus.
