POSITION SUMMARY
The pharmacy technician performs a variety of duties related to the preparing and dispensing of medications according to standard procedure under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The work performed includes accurately compounding sterile intravenous hazardous and non-hazardous preparations to meet the needs of the patients. Maintains an accurate medication and supply inventory by ordering, verifying receipt, restocking and removing outdated medications. Maintains a clean environment according to guidelines. Displays commitment to the pharmacy department by working collaboratively with team members.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum Experience One year of experience in hospital pharmacy or four years of experience in a retail setting. Must be chemotherapy trained at EAMC for at least 6 months and be able to work independently as determined by the supervising pharmacist. Required Registration/License/Certification Alabama State Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration. Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate (CPhT) or graduate from an accredited pharmacy technician training program with CPhT status if hired after June 1, 2020. Employees hired before June 1, 2020 must complete this certificate by September 30, 2021. Must maintain certification. Preferred Education N/A Preferred Experience Hospital pharmacy with IV and chemotherapy preparation experience preferred. Preferred Registration/License/Certification Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Certificate (CSPT) Other Requirements N/A
