As a full time, nonexempt Pharmacy Technician, you will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.
Schedule:
This full-time, nonexempt position will work up to 40 hours/week in a variety of shifts.Location:
Coast Plaza Doctor's Hospital in Norwalk, CA offers 117 licensed beds, including a 37-bed Behavioral Health unit, and a complete in-house range of Emergency Department Services 24/7.Pharmacy Hours:
The pharmacy utilizes CPOE and ADC-Pyxis with Pyxis automation/software. Pharmacy hours are Monday- 7:00am-8:30pm; Tuesday-Friday
- 7:30am-8:30pm; and Saturday & Sunday
- 8:00am-4:30pm.
Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency Prepare and compound medications (including IV admixtures and sterile products) following hospital protocols and USP standards Deliver medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units Maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates Support medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery Comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Current California certified pharmacy technician license in good standing IV and compounding experience Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office Proven effective communication skills; verbal and writtenPreferred Qualifications:
