Rotating•08 Hour (United States of America) Job Summary The Pharmacy Technician I will support the pharmacy management and the pharmacist staff in providing management of medications to all patients within the organization, while meeting all regulatory requirements at the federal, state, and local levels. The scope of practice of the Pharmacy Technician I shall be as defined and/or limited by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Essential Functions Pharmacy Technician I essential functions include, but not limited to: Responsible for competency and performance of all non-discretionary support services to the Pharmacists in all areas permitted by licensure. Assist in the sterile and non-sterile, hazardous, and non-hazardous compounding. Maintain and achieve adherence to all regulatory requirements for sterile and non-sterile compounding. Complete cart fill, automated dispensing cabinet replenishment and maintenance of PAR levels and expirations. Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs. Replenishment of all standardized medication trays and kits. Package and re-package bulk items for unit-of-use. Ensure medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments. Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Understand and maintain compliance to state and federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures, and guidelines related to job specific area of practice. Perform other duties as required. Job Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience:
One-year continuous experience in the role of Pharmacy Technician Inpatient pharmacy experience preferred
License/Certification:
Active licensure by the California State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician Active PTCB National Certification desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge and understanding of sterile compounding procedures General knowledge of drug distribution models General knowledge of infection control practices General knowledge of handling and recordkeeping of controlled substances Strong knowledge of pharmacy-related regulatory requirements as pertaining to technician responsibilities Basic computer skills Strong attention to details, to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks Ability to problem-solve and exercise critical thinking skills to arrive at solutions that do not compromise patient care/safety or regulatory compliance Ability to work collaboratively with a team while also working autonomously Ability to think and see global perspective of role as it relates to the department and the hospital Ability to find a peaceful solution to a disagreement in a professional manner Willingness to expand knowledge, skills and seize opportunities to expand skills and knowledge Ability to maintain positivity in the workplace and work towards solutions to identified problems Ability to communicate clearly and concisely Physical Demand and Working Conditions Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g. preparing IV admixtures, use of a computer keyboard). Requires lifting (up to 25 pounds) and carrying light loads including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions, and stooping or kneeling (e.g. to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers). Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary. Must be physically able to operate the equipment used for the job. Base Pay Scale:
Generally starting at $31.94•$41.20 per hour The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
