Job Description Summary:
Pharmacy Technicians enroll and help manage members in our chronic disease management program (diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, asthma/COPD). A technician is responsible for ensuring patients' prescriptions/medical orders are active, billed, and accurately dispensed for timely shipment. Technicians engage our members for refills, assist with physician and pharmacy inquiries requests/questions, outreach to members to discuss operational health alerts and provide additional information. Our pharmacy technicians play a unique and pivotal role in empowering our members to be healthy and well.
Main Responsibilities/Functions:
  • Contact patients regarding Gojji disease management services and provide education regarding disease management services
  • Receive prescriptions from patients and record the proper patient information following department policies and procedures
  • Adjudication of claims and billing prescriptions and understand different insurance types and formulary criteria's
  • Assist patients with troubleshooting insurance or mailing issues
  • Assist patients with eligibility, prescriptions, refills or diabetic supplies
  • Provide prompt, courteous and engaging customer service
  • Assist with incoming calls from patients, providers and vendors
  • Contact providers to obtain prescription information
  • Provide customer related assistance to clinicians (Certified Diabetes Educators, Dieticians, and Pharmacists)
  • Dispensing prescriptions and packaging for mailing
  • Maintain inventory and supplies
  • Accurately record sensitive patient information into databases
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or higher
  • Active CA State License as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to easily adapt to change and process improvement
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Able to calculate pharmaceutical dispensing quantities and day supply
  • Able to transcribe and read basic medical terminology of prescriptions and medical orders
  • Type 35 wpm or greater
Experience:
  • Working understanding of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
  • Knowledge of workflow through both Pharmacy billing Software (Pharmacy Benefit Management systems) and CRM System (Medical Management systems)
Competencies:
  • Detail orientated
  • General knowledge of Diabetes and identify common diabetic medications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Willing to adapt to change while maintaining positive team culture
