Job description Technician Duties Standard and compounding
Standard Duties:
Expedites prescription processing by performing all duties necessary. Receives new and refilled prescriptions from customers and/or prescribers for filling Verifies name, DOB, and address (if applicable) of the person the new prescription Prepares and type labels for new/refill prescriptions Process cash register transactions Opens and closes the cash register at the beginning and end of the day vii. Packages prescriptions appropriately for mail and/or delivery as necessary Arranges customer consultations with Pharmacist Procures signatures from customers for all prescriptions received Handles all calls with excellent customer services skills, directs to Pharmacist, when appropriate, such as new prescriptions, questions about medication and any other situation requiring professional judgment or discretion Returns phone calls promptly and contacts patients as required on insurance issues Completes and processes third-party documents. Complies with all aspects (including receiving, storage, dispensing/compounding, disposal) of Hazardous Drug Control Plan (HDCP). Files patient profiles and prescriptions as necessary Ensures pharmacy is adequately stocked with vials, labels and other pharmacy supplies to ensure efficient daily operation. Processes incoming orders to determine that items ordered were shipped and that items shipped are the same as items invoiced to the Pharmacy Checks stock to remove outdated items, as often as deemed necessary by the PIC Cleans pharmacy shelves and work areas and maintains entire premises according to current SOPs Other duties as assigned Compounding Duties (Or willing to learn)- Prepare nonsterile and BHRT compounds in accordance to USP standards, including chapters 795
- Pulling/putting away manufactured medications and chemicals
- Counting/pouring/mixing/weighing/affixing labels/taping
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Proper operation and maintenance of all compounding equipment (mortar and pestles (manual and electronic), capsule machine, and ointment mill
- Maintenance of logs
- Glassware and equipment washing and proper waste removal
Requirements:
License- Florida state pharmacy technician license, including all required Continuing Education Education and/or Experience
- 1. High school diploma 2. PK Compounding software experience (Preferred, not required) 3. Nonsterile compounding and BHRT experience (Minimum of 1 year) Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Computer Skills
- Perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of pharmacy software. Experience with PK Compounding Software is ideal (optional). Office is not required but will improve chances for success. Technical Skills
