Job Description
Overview Specialty pharmacy technicians are responsible for the regulatory and operational aspects of their area of practice under the direction of the pharmacist. Current ambulatory pharmacy areas of practice include: controlled substances, meds to beds, pain management clinic, and specialty pharmacy. The specialty pharmacy technician spends at least 75% of their time in their area of practice. They are also responsible for assisting in the training of new personnel in their practice area. They maintain medication systems in their area of practice (as appropriate) and maintain an optimal environment for the preparation and storage of pharmaceuticals.
