Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient, Part Time
Job Description

As a Pharmacy Technician, a caregiver in this role will serve as the pharmacy presence at Coral Springs Surgery Center, supporting surgical operations in a setting without a traditional inpatient or outpatient pharmacy onsite. The caregiver will help ensure medications and supplies are available to support safe and efficient patient care through inventory management, Pyxis automation systems and pharmacy storeroom operations. Responsibilities include receiving and managing medication deliveries, maintaining the pharmacy storeroom, restocking and troubleshooting Pyxis medication dispensing cabinets, ensuring medication availability for surgical procedures and collaborating with clinical teams to address medication supply needs. The caregiver will also support standard pharmacy technician responsibilities and follow regulatory, safety and quality standards. A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday rotating between 3:30pm and 7:30pm and 4:00pm and 8:00pm averaging a total of 20 hours per week. No weekends or holidays are required. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding. Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner. Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections. Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training. Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks. Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED Licensed in Florida as a Registered Pharmacy Technician Ability to communicate with other caregivers and patients in an effective and positive manner Demonstration of emotional control and intelligence in managing work relationships Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds Basic computer skills Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). CPhT through the PTCB is required within 18 months of hire Six months of hospital experience
Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
