  • 32/hour, based on sterile compounding experience Position Summary Aster Pharmacy is seeking a highly experienced Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician with a strong background in USP sterile compounding and hands-on experience preparing Category 2 and Category 3 Compounded Sterile Preparations (CSPs).

This is not an entry-level sterile compounding position. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of recent hands-on sterile compounding experience and be comfortable working independently within established SOPs under pharmacist supervision. Candidates with experience in both nonsterile compounding under USP and sterile compounding under USP are strongly preferred.

Required Experience Applicants should have:

Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on sterile compounding experience Experience preparing USP Category 2 CSPs Experience with Category 3 CSP workflows and requirements Strong understanding of aseptic technique and maintaining first air Experience working in an ISO Class 5 PEC / cleanroom environment Experience with proper hand hygiene, garbing and sterile gloving Experience with media-fill testing Experience with gloved fingertip and thumb sampling Knowledge of cleanroom cleaning, disinfection and documentation Experience completing sterile compounding records and batch documentation Strong knowledge of Beyond-Use Dates (BUDs), storage and labeling requirements Experience following Master Formulation Records, Compounding Records and pharmacy SOPs Experience with environmental and personnel monitoring requirements Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate pharmaceutical calculations Sterile Compounding Responsibilities The technician will: Prepare compounded sterile preparations according to prescriptions, formulas, SOPs and pharmacist instructions Perform aseptic manipulations within ISO Class 5 primary engineering controls Follow USP requirements for Category 2 and Category 3 CSPs Maintain proper cleanroom behavior and aseptic technique Complete required hand hygiene and garbing procedures Participate in media-fill, gloved fingertip and other competency evaluations Accurately weigh, measure, calculate and document ingredients Complete compounding records and required documentation Maintain lot numbers, expiration dates and traceability of ingredients and supplies Assist with cleaning and disinfection of PECs and controlled environments Monitor supplies and communicate inventory needs Follow quality-control procedures and immediately report deviations or concerns Assist with preparation for inspections, certification and regulatory compliance USP / Hazardous Compounding Experience with USP hazardous drug compounding is desirable. Candidates with experience using a biological safety cabinet or other appropriate containment engineering controls are preferred. Nonsterile Compounding Experience with USP nonsterile compounding is preferred, including experience with formulations such as: Capsules Creams and ointments Gels Suspensions Solutions Troches or similar dosage forms We are particularly interested in technicians who understand the operational and quality differences between nonsterile and sterile compounding environments.

Qualifications Required:

Active Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician registration Minimum 2 years of recent sterile compounding experience; 3+ years preferred Category 2 sterile compounding experience Category 3 sterile compounding experience Knowledge of USP Strong aseptic technique Excellent attention to detail Ability to accurately follow SOPs and documentation requirements

Preferred:

PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Sterile compounding certification or advanced sterile compounding training USP hazardous drug experience USP nonsterile compounding experience Experience in a 503A compounding pharmacy Experience assisting with environmental monitoring, competency testing and cleanroom compliance What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is: Experienced and confident in the cleanroom Extremely detail-oriented Organized and dependable Comfortable following strict SOPs Quality and patient-safety focused Able to identify and report potential compounding errors or deviations Comfortable working as part of a pharmacist-led compounding team Interested in helping build and maintain a high-quality sterile compounding program Important This position requires actual hands-on sterile compounding experience. Retail pharmacy experience alone does not meet the requirements for this position. Applicants should be prepared to discuss their previous sterile compounding experience, including: Category 2 CSPs Category 3 CSPs Cleanroom environments Aseptic technique Media-fill testing Gloved fingertip testing USP USP , if applicable Nonsterile compounding experience
