Full-Time Certified Pharmacy Technician Greene County Pharmacy - Jefferson, Iowa Position Overview Greene County Pharmacy is seeking a dependable, patient-focused Full-Time Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) to join our locally owned independent community pharmacy. This position is ideal for a pharmacy technician who enjoys building relationships with patients, working closely with a small pharmacy team, and providing personalized service in a community pharmacy setting. The Certified Pharmacy Technician will work alongside the Pharmacist-in-Charge, pharmacists, and pharmacy staff to support safe and accurate prescription processing, patient service, medication preparation, inventory management, insurance billing, and day-to-day pharmacy operations. Responsibilities Accurately enter, process, prepare, and dispense prescription medications under the supervision of a pharmacist. Provide friendly, professional customer service to patients in person and by phone. Assist patients with prescription refills, transfers, medication questions, and general pharmacy needs while appropriately referring clinical questions to the pharmacist. Process prescription insurance claims, including resolving rejected claims, prior authorization requests, refill-too-soon issues, and other billing concerns. Communicate with prescribers' offices, insurance companies, patients, and other healthcare professionals as needed. Prepare prescription medications accurately and efficiently while following pharmacy policies and pharmacist direction. Assist pharmacists with prescription workflow and maintain an organized and efficient work environment. Assist with medication inventory management, ordering, receiving, stocking, and expiration-date monitoring. Assist with controlled substance procedures, inventory counts, documentation, and storage requirements. Assist with medication synchronization, refill management, and other programs designed to improve patient convenience and medication adherence. Assist pharmacists with clinical services, vaccinations, point-of-care testing, and other patient care services as directed. Assist with pharmacy operations and workflow related to our nearby telepharmacy location as needed. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Follow federal and Iowa pharmacy laws, regulations, pharmacy policies, and professional standards. Maintain a clean, organized, friendly, and professional pharmacy environment. Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned by the Pharmacist-in-Charge. Qualifications Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through an accredited national certification organization or willingness to get Certified within 12 months of hire. Current Iowa pharmacy technician registration/license, or eligibility to obtain Iowa registration. Strong attention to detail and commitment to prescription accuracy and patient safety. Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a small pharmacy team. Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. Comfortable working with pharmacy computer systems, prescription processing, and insurance billing. Commitment to patient confidentiality and professional standards. Willingness to learn and assist with expanded pharmacy services and new technologies. Reliable attendance and dependable work habits.
