Description:
GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
- While studying towards certification, within limits of current training, and under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and general supervision of a Licensed Technician, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee will learn how to prepare medication orders, including both sterile and non-sterile compounds.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician in Training by the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy. Must be enrolled and maintain enrollment in Trinity Health's ASHP Pharmacy Technician training program. Must complete 400 hours of the Trinity Health's ASHP Pharmacy Technician training program and obtain PTCB certification within 180 days of hire.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- + Complete ASHP didactic learning modules as assigned.
Registered Pharmacist or Licensed Pharmacy Technician:
a) Prepares, packages, and distributes medication orders per physician/pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols. b) Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures. c) Contributes to effective and quality operation of the department. d) Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation; files documentation; answers telephone and pneumatic tube; and handles cash transactions. + Basic aptitude and math, good written and verbal communication. + Able to readily adapt to institutional roles and schedules. + Familiarity with standard desktop and Windows based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions. + Capable of self-motivated and independent study. + Ability to deal with people at all levels and skills in various situations in a courteous and tactful manner following the Trinity Health Core Values. + Demonstrates exceptional ability and willingness to take on new and additional responsibilities.
