Job Title:
Pharmacy Floor Technician (PM Shift) Job Description The Pharmacy Floor Technician supports safe and accurate medication dispensing by preparing, labeling, and packaging prescriptions for final verification by a pharmacist. This role works primarily on the PM shift and plays a key part in maintaining efficient pharmacy operations through careful attention to detail, adherence to regulations, and consistent collaboration with the pharmacy team. Responsibilities Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist. Pick, label, scan, and otherwise prepare finished prescriptions for final verification by a pharmacist. Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle or dispose of medications according to established procedures. Prepack frequently ordered medications, label them correctly, and store them as needed during low-volume times. Package materials and products manually to support pharmacy production needs. Pull and pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas, including prepack racks. Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to verify accuracy before final pharmacist review. Alert the pharmacist on duty immediately when any medication or product does not scan properly or appears incorrect. Maintain designated workstation areas in a clean, organized condition and replenish all stock supplies as needed. Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient privacy and maintain regulatory compliance. Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code at all times. Work overtime, holidays, and weekends when required or expected to support pharmacy operations. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure consistent and efficient pharmacy service. Work Environment This position is scheduled on the PM shift, typically from 6:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., with every other weekend coverage from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The role may require extended hours, overtime, holidays, and weekend work as needed to support pharmacy operations. A shift differential of 10% is added to the base pay for hours worked after 5:00 p.m. The work is performed in a pharmacy environment that includes shelving, medication storage areas, and prepack racks, with frequent manual handling of medications, blister cards, and packaging materials. Team members sit, stand, bend, stoop, and walk throughout the shift and may remain on their feet or seated for 7 to 10 hours. The setting requires regular use of computers, scanners, and other pharmacy equipment, along with consistent data entry and product scanning. The environment emphasizes safety, accuracy, and compliance with all applicable regulations, including HIPAA, and adheres to a defined dress code appropriate for a professional pharmacy setting Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burr Ridge, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
