Job Description
Pharmacy Technician, Inpatient Pharmacy, Weekends, PRN Responsible for technical and clerical work and delivery of medications to each designated area. Responsible for helping prepare and dispense medications in Unit Dose and IV Additive area under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Director or Pharmacist. All functions/competencies and job duties are evaluated based on direct observation and documentation in patients' charts Essential Key Job Responsibilities Make pharmacy medication delivery rounds each day according to schedule set up Assists with new order entry Refills medication carts for the next day Checks the medication carts that have been refilled by another Pharmacy Technician Exchanges medication drawers on all floors each day Restocks crash cart trays, scope boxes, etc as needed Replaces and delivers Omnicell stock medication to all designated areas Refills take-home packs when necessary Packages drugs as unit dose as needed each day Maintains adequate stock of all drugs in Pharmacy utilizing approved wholesaler Checks in and puts up wholesale orders Performs IV Additive functions for all piggyback solutions using aseptic technique Cleans anteroom/IV preparation area according to USP 797 standards Maintains an adequate level of stock of all medications, fluids, and supplies in IV Room Assists in filling large volume intravenous fluids and delivers to designated area. Prepares chemotherapy safely and correctly using aseptic technique Performs assigned drug unit inspections to pull expired drugs Pulls expired drugs from assigned Omnicells/crash carts Places all orders to various wholesalers each day Clean the shelves and counter. Assists Pharmacy Tech Supervisor with gathering and compiling quality improvement. Assists in taking inventory Role Minimum Qualifications Required Education High school diploma or equivalent Required Licensure and Certifications - At Hire Registered by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be familiar with filing and performing clerical work. Excellent customer service skills. 1 year experience Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in hospital setting
