We believe personalized service, trust, and professionalism are what set independent pharmacy apart. Position Overview We are seeking a Louisiana-licensed Pharmacy Intern to join our team. This position provides pharmacy students with the opportunity to gain hands-on community pharmacy experience while working directly alongside licensed pharmacists and experienced pharmacy staff. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Intern will assist with prescription processing and dispensing, patient communication, insurance claims, inventory management, and daily pharmacy operations while developing valuable skills and experience for a future career as a pharmacist. This position will work between 2 locations: Nola Discount Pharmacy #2 1107 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Ste 3 Metairie, LA 70005 AND Nola Discount Pharmacy of Destrehan 3001 Ormond Blvd, Ste C Destrehan, LA 70047

Hours of Operation Monday-Friday:

9:00 AM - 7:00 PM The Destrehan location closes at 6:00 PM.

Saturday:

9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Schedule & Availability Requirements This is a part-time position designed for a pharmacy student. Saturday availability is required. Additional weekday hours may be scheduled based on the intern's availability and the needs of the pharmacy. Key Responsibilities Prescription Processing & Dispensing Accurately enter and process prescription information Assist with preparing, counting, and labeling medications for pharmacist verification Process new prescriptions, refills, and prescription transfers in accordance with applicable laws and regulations Assist pharmacists with pharmacy workflow and prescription fulfillment Patient Communication & Customer Service Greet patients and provide friendly, professional assistance Assist patients with prescription status, refills, and medication-related questions within the permitted scope of practice Communicate with prescribers regarding refill requests and prescription clarifications Handle patient concerns with empathy, discretion, and professionalism Develop strong patient communication and counseling skills under pharmacist supervision Pharmacy Operations & Support Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with HIPAA requirements Assist with medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotation Assist with insurance claims processing and resolving third-party rejections Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized pharmacy Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and other team members to maintain an efficient workflow and provide exceptional patient care Required Skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong customer service and patient-care skills Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment Basic computer skills and willingness to learn pharmacy software Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism Ability to work effectively as part of a team Strong organizational skills Willingness to learn and take initiative Preferred Skills Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills Ability to learn quickly and accept feedback Interest in developing community pharmacy and patient-care skills Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in an accredited school/college of pharmacy Current Louisiana Pharmacy Intern Registration Must be available to work Saturdays Must be willing and able to work at both the Metairie and Destrehan locations Physical Requirements Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods throughout a shift Comfortable working in a moderately busy pharmacy environment with frequent patient interactions Why Join Nola Discount Pharmacy?
