Job Description
MAC Rx of MO, a growing long term care pharmacy, is seeking an IV Technician to join our team! This role performs a wide variety of technical functions within our IV department including sterile/aseptic compounding of IV medications encompassing calculations, proper mixing technique, accurate labeling, and inventory management. The successful candidate will be able to work well in teams and in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be able to work well in teams and in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities include:
Receive and enter prescription or refill requests and verify information is complete and accurate Establish or maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients Proper use of aseptic technique for sterile compounding Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests Clean and help maintain equipment and work areas according to prescribed methods Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, check for outdated medications in current inventory, and inform manager of stock needs Interpret lab results and work with pharmacists for high risk therapies Dispense the highest quality of sterile products for every patient Provide the highest quality of customer service by utilizing friendly, efficient and accurate customer communication methods Utilize all state and federal laws and guidelines to align department initiatives with generally accepted practices for compliance purposes Coordinate with internal departments to increase efficiency, problem solve and maintain excellent customer serviceQualifications and Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail required
- Intimate knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws and guidelines
- Knowledge of business English, spelling and commercial arithmetic
- Ability to compound IV therapies
- Ability to follow direction and prioritize tasks
- Problem solver
- Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as necessary
- Ability to stoop, kneel, and/or crouch occasionally
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Two years of pharmacy technician experience required, preferably in a long term care setting, IV technician experience required
- Missouri Pharmacy Technician license and certification is required We are seeking a full-time hire at this time.
