Pharmacy Technician, Certified - RWJBarnabas Health At RWJBarnabas Health, the Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in patient care and operational excellence. Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will participate in the medication reconciliation process. A typical day for a Pharmacy Technician may include: Collecting and processing medication orders prior to distribution.
Drug distribution:
refilling unit-dose medication bins and delivering contents to nursing units. Maintenance of all automatic dispensing machines Removing expired medication from stock Restocking code carts Preparing and labeling outpatient prescriptions Preparing and labeling extemporaneously compounded non-sterile pharmaceuticals Sterile and non-sterile product preparation Performing required calculations for all medication dispensing and compounding Using aseptic techniques Maintains the integrity of laminar air flow hoods by cleaning and following procedures Monitoring IV schedules and unused IV solutions on select nursing units to increase efficiency and avoiding waste This role might be for you if: You enjoy working as a team player and assisting those in need Patient safety, accurate drug evaluation, and delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care are your top priorities You enjoy working collaboratively with providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams You utilize a proactive approach and anticipate needs Demonstrate respect and appreciation for each person regardless of that person's background, race, gender, religion, disability or sexual orientation.
