Job Overview:
The Pharmacy Technician Specialty will participate in the medication reconciliation process, which will include accessing the electronic medical record EMR in the Emergency Department (ED) and identifying patients who have been in the ED with a note in the chart indicating they will be admitted. The Pharmacy Technician Specialty will interview the patient or their family member to obtain an accurate medication history. This role will also need to review the currently documented external prescription history and contact the patients' retail pharmacy to resolve any medication concerns.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school graduate or equivalent
Preferred:
PTCB - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board certification At least one year of pharmacy experience Bachelors of Science Bilingual in
English and Spanish Certifications and Licenses Required:
Licensed Pharmacy Technician in
New Jersey Scheduling Requirements:
Shift working, 11am-7pm Monday-Friday Full-Time (FT)
Essential Functions:
Update the patients' home medication list in the EMR Interviewing patients and their families as well as relaying the use of nonformulary medications to the pharmacist taking care of the patient Use working knowledge of healthcare informatics for entry and documentation of daily activities in the pharmacy documentation database Quantifi Assist in the provision of pharmaceutical services under the direct supervision of the registered pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical and manipulative tasks involved in dispensing, preparing and distributing all medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups including geriatrics, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal on an as-needed basis
