In this position, you will work closely with pharmacists to prepare high-quality compounded medications while maintaining strict standards for accuracy, cleanliness, documentation, and patient safety. The ideal candidate is organized, focused, comfortable with pharmaceutical calculations, and able to follow formulas and procedures consistently. Key Responsibilities Prepare non-sterile compounded medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Accurately weigh, measure, mix, compound, package, and label ingredients according to approved formulas and prescriptions. Prepare a variety of dosage forms, including capsules, creams, ointments, gels, suspensions, solutions, troches, and suppositories. Perform pharmaceutical calculations involving quantities, concentrations, percentages, ratios, and dosage conversions. Follow established standard operating procedures and applicable USP <795> requirements. Follow USP <800> procedures when handling hazardous ingredients, when applicable. Maintain accurate compounding records, worksheets, ingredient logs, lot numbers, expiration dates, and beyond-use dates. Complete required quality-control checks throughout the compounding process. Clean and maintain compounding equipment, work surfaces, utensils, and designated preparation areas. Monitor ingredient and supply inventory and notify the appropriate team member when items need to be reordered. Properly store chemicals, ingredients, finished compounds, and packaging materials. Assist with prescription processing, labeling, billing, and general pharmacy workflow as needed. Communicate professionally with pharmacists, prescribers, patients, and other team members. Identify and report discrepancies, calculation concerns, equipment issues, or quality problems immediately. Protect patient confidentiality and follow all HIPAA requirements. What We Are Looking For Active pharmacy technician registration, license, or certification as required by state regulations. Previous pharmacy technician experience. Non-sterile compounding experience strongly preferred. National pharmacy technician certification preferred. Strong mathematical and pharmaceutical calculation skills. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to follow written formulas, procedures, and safety requirements precisely. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks without sacrificing quality. Dependable attendance and a professional attitude. Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment. Willingness to learn new formulas, techniques, equipment, and pharmacy procedures. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive compounding tasks safely.
