Pharmacy TechnicianJob Description The Pharmacy Technician plays a key role in accurately preparing, packaging, and supporting the delivery of prescription medications in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This position focuses on processing and filling prescription orders for pharmacist verification, maintaining drug inventory and automated dispensing units, and ensuring work stations are fully stocked with necessary supplies. The role also involves occasional patient outreach for customer service calls and inquiries regarding shipped orders. You will work within multiple computer systems simultaneously to respond to questions and provide specific medication or clinical information, helping ensure that critical medications reach patients safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Process and fill prescription orders in preparation for pharmacist verification, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established procedures. Retrieve medications from stock, count, and package orders for review by a pharmacist. Perform some packing and shipping of completed prescription orders to patients, following all relevant guidelines and protocols. Maintain drug inventory and automated dispensing units, including monitoring stock levels and replenishing as needed. Remove outdated products from shelves to support medication safety and regulatory compliance. Assist with inventory replenishment and maintain par levels of pre-packaged auxiliary items. Replenish work station supplies for filling prescriptions, including vials, caps, labels, and related materials. Use multiple computer systems simultaneously to process orders, access medication details, and provide clinical information as needed. Respond to questions and provide specific medication details or clinical information in a clear and accurate manner. Occasionally contact patients for customer service calls to address questions, concerns, or issues related to their prescriptions. Make inquiries regarding orders that have been shipped to confirm status or resolve issues. Support a high-volume workflow while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail. Essential Skills Active pharmacy technician certification. Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a pharmacy technician. Proficiency in pharmacy-related data entry with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work effectively within multiple computer systems simultaneously. Strong organizational skills for managing inventory, automated dispensing units, and work station supplies. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as counting and packaging medications with a high degree of precision. NJ state pharmacy technician license required. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a mail-order pharmacy environment is preferred. Comfort with customer service interactions, including calling patients and handling inquiries about shipped orders. Ability to follow detailed procedures and pharmacy protocols consistently. Strong communication skills to provide clear medication and clinical information. Work Environment This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, scheduled Sunday through Thursday. The role follows an 8-hour shift within normal business hours of 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, and may require occasional overtime or weekend work based on business needs. The environment is fast-paced and high-volume, with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency in processing and shipping important, sometimes life-saving medications. You will work at a pharmacy facility equipped with automated dispensing units, computer systems for order processing and data entry, and well-organized work stations stocked with vials, caps, labels, and other supplies. The setting emphasizes safety, compliance, and teamwork to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medications to patients. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Montville, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
