Job Description
Rockaway Animal Hospital is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Veterinary Pharmacy Technician to join our fast-paced, nine-doctor animal hospital. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, efficient, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional accuracy. Veterinary pharmacy or animal hospital experience is strongly preferred. Schedule Monday-Friday, 2:00 PM-7:00 PM Rotating Saturdays, 8:00 AM-1:00 PM Approximately 25-30 hours per week Pay $20-$24 per hour , based on veterinary pharmacy experience, technical skills, and qualifications. Primary Responsibilities Accurately prepare, fill, label, and package prescriptions Process medication refill requests and obtain doctor approval when required Review prescriptions for accuracy before dispensing Communicate with clients regarding medication status, pickup, and refill requirements Maintain organized prescription records and appropriate documentation Monitor medication inventory and expiration dates Restock pharmacy supplies and assist with medication ordering Receive and properly store pharmacy deliveries Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy workspace Assist with controlled-drug documentation and inventory, as permitted Support other hospital duties when pharmacy responsibilities are complete Qualifications Previous veterinary hospital, veterinary pharmacy, or medication-dispensing experience preferred Familiarity with veterinary medications, dosages, and medical terminology is a plus Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to multitask in a busy hospital environment Comfortable using veterinary software and learning new systems Dependable attendance and availability for the required schedule Ability to work independently while remaining part of a collaborative team Why Join Us?
