This position is responsible for prescription processing and filling, insurance billing, inventory management, patient communication, and general pharmacy workflow under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The ideal candidate is accurate, efficient, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced pharmacy environment. A current and active Nevada Pharmacy Technician license is required for this position. Applicants who are not currently licensed in Nevada will not be considered. Key ResponsibilitiesPrescription Filling & Processing Receive and accurately enter new prescriptions and refill requests into the pharmacy dispensing system. Accurately select medications, count or measure quantities, prepare labels, and package prescriptions for pharmacist verification. Verify patient demographics, medication information, quantity, prescriber information, and other prescription details for accuracy. Prepare prescriptions for pickup, delivery, or shipment as applicable. Process refill requests and assist with obtaining refill authorizations from prescribers. Maintain an organized and efficient prescription workflow. Follow pharmacy procedures for prescription documentation, storage, recordkeeping, and medication handling. Identify prescription issues and promptly refer pharmacist-only or clinical matters to the pharmacist. Insurance Billing Submit prescription claims to commercial insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers. Maintain accurate patient insurance information. Troubleshoot common rejected claims, including refill-too-soon, coverage, eligibility, and coordination-of-benefits issues. Process claim reversals, corrections, and rebills as necessary. Communicate with patients, insurance plans, and pharmacy staff regarding billing issues and patient copays. Escalate complex or unresolved billing issues to the pharmacist or pharmacy management. Inventory & Pharmacy Operations Receive, unpack, and properly store medications and pharmacy supplies. Assist with medication ordering and inventory management. Monitor inventory for low-stock and expired or soon-to-expire medications. Assist with medication returns and wholesaler processes. Maintain clean, organized, and appropriately stocked pharmacy work areas. Follow pharmacy procedures related to medication storage, security, and handling. Assist with other daily pharmacy operational responsibilities as assigned. Patient & Provider Support Provide professional and courteous service to patients. Answer incoming calls and assist with prescription status, refill requests, billing questions, and other appropriate inquiries. Communicate with prescriber offices regarding prescription information and refill requests within the technician's permitted scope. Coordinate prescription pickup, delivery, or shipment when applicable. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Refer clinical questions and pharmacist-only matters to the pharmacist. Required Qualifications Current and active Nevada Pharmacy Technician license —
REQUIRED.
High school diploma or equivalent. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong computer and data-entry skills. Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced pharmacy environment. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage pharmacy workflow effectively. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of the pharmacy team. Candidates who do not currently hold an active Nevada Pharmacy Technician license will not be considered for this position. Preferred Experience Previous retail, independent, specialty, or community pharmacy experience. Prescription processing and filling experience. Pharmacy insurance billing and claim troubleshooting experience. Insurance billing experience. Pharmacy inventory management. Prescription delivery or shipment coordination. Experience with pharmacy dispensing software.
Pay:
$17.00 - $21.00 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 - 40.0 per week
