This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, aseptic technique, and IV infusion processes within a hospital or acute care setting. The Senior Pharmacy Technician will work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective delivery of medications to patients. Responsibilities Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including IV infusions and other sterile products. Maintain accurate patient records and medication profiles, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Perform medication order entry and verification, utilizing pharmacy software systems. Provide patient care support by answering medication-related inquiries from healthcare staff and patients. Ensure proper storage and handling of pharmaceuticals, adhering to aseptic techniques at all times. Participate in inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications. Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes through effective medication therapy management. Train and mentor junior pharmacy technicians and interns as needed. Qualifications Certification as a Pharmacy Technician is required; experience in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology related to pharmaceuticals and patient care. Proficiency in IV infusion preparation and critical care pharmacy practices. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy. Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, pharmacists, and healthcare professionals. Commitment to continuous professional development within the field of pharmacy.
