You will do so much more than count prescriptions and ring out patients. You will make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers. A caregiver in this position works days from 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. with every other weekend requirements A caregiver who excels in this role will: Assist pharmacists in filling inpatient orders, including completion of necessary documentation. Prepare, deliver and collect all pharmacy items throughout the medical center including re-stocking of automated dispensing cabinets. Perform floor checks, stock check and assigned unit review as required. Complete all Pharmacy Keeper Activities and inspections assigned to their position. Assist Pharmacists in monitoring stock for outdated medications and properly disposing of them in a timely manner. Process medication returns / refunds to patient accounts. Compound non-sterile medications according to USP795 regulations. Prepackage medication as necessary and according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Answer telephones and assist callers with needs that do not require the professional judgment of a pharmacist. Interact with EPIC, our dispensing automation software (e.g. Pyxis, Carousels, etc.) and Pharmacy Keeper software to answer all questions related to the processing of a medication order. Assist customers at the service window including caregivers, couriers and others as needed. Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma/GED Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) verified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Proficient typing skills Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within six months of hire Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Associate's Degree or completion of some college coursework Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician Previous experience in a hospital inpatient pharmacy Previous experience with EPIC or similar programs Understanding of medical terminology and calculations
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work which requires constant standing and walking. A willingness to perform work which has infrequent disagreeable features and safety hazards.
