This role serves as the first point of contact for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians across all store locations, troubleshooting claims and systems issues in real time. Over time, the Specialist will also be trained to support basic pharmacy billing, compliance, accounting, and supply functions under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy. Key Responsibilities Serve as the first-line troubleshooter for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians at all locations, fielding questions on claims and pharmacy systems. Research, diagnose, and resolve pharmacy claims issues, including rejected or denied claims, using pharmacy systems commonly used to submit claims. Support store-level pharmacy staff with day-to-day systems issues, escalating complex or unresolved cases as needed. Assist with pharmacy billing tasks under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy. Support pharmacy compliance activities and documentation as directed by the Director of Pharmacy. Assist with pharmacy accounting functions, including reconciliation and reporting support. Assist with pharmacy supply ordering, tracking, and inventory-related tasks. Maintain clear documentation of issues, resolutions, and recurring systems trends to help prevent future claims problems. Communicate professionally and patiently with pharmacy staff who may be contacting support under time pressure. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of pharmacy experience required. Hands-on experience with computer systems commonly used in pharmacy operations to submit and manage claims (required). Strong working knowledge of pharmacy claims processes, including common rejection and adjudication scenarios. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to stay calm and clear under pressure. Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable supporting staff by phone and email across multiple locations. Ability to learn new responsibilities in billing, compliance, accounting, and supply management, and to work under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable, with the ability to manage multiple open issues at once. Prior experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacist, or in a pharmacy help-desk / support role, is strongly preferred.
