Job Description

A Brief Overview The Pharmacy Technician 3 is a proficient technician that is accountable for assisting pharmacists in the retrieval, processing, preparation, and distribution of medications for patient administration. The Technician 3 functions and can train in all aspects of drug distribution that do not require the professional judgment of a pharmacist. All of the above assigned activities are performed under the supervision of a Pharmacist. The Pharmacy Technician 3 is also responsible for performing all the functions of the Technician 1 or 2 when assigned. What You Will Do
- For Inpatient Pharmacy Tech 3, activities include but are not limited to: o Accurately prepares non-hazardous compounded sterile products in strict accordance with USP standards; performs hazardous drug compounding (USP ) as assigned or required by facility needs.
- Utilizes pharmacy systems to process prescriptions, including insurance adjudication and prior authorization submittal, and accurately prepares dangerous drugs for dispensing including counting, pouring, labeling, and performing non-sterile drug compounding and reconstitution.
- Inventory, replenish, and maintain drug stock which includes automated dispensing cabinets and prescription pick-up kiosks.
- Packaging and selling dangerous drugs to a patient or patient representative and answering questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Inventory management including par levels, order review and submission, returns processing, recall management, and outdates process oversight.
- Provides direction to technician staff on day to day operations and performs extensive trainer duties with new hires and/or technician trainees.
- Extensive buyer duties including purchasing, invoice processing, cost transferring, and specialized ordering. For Medication History Pharmacy Tech 3, activities include but are not limited to:
- Support medication history collection process for ED and inpatient units utilizing appropriate sources and communication.
- Communicate effectively with patients during the interview and accurately record the medication history.
- Maintain open communication with nurses, patient care technicians, practitioners, and other personnel in the hospital to report important findings.
