Job Description

Serving the needs of Garfield Heights and the Southeast communities of Cuyahoga County, Marymount Hospital is an acute care, faith-based hospital. As a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, a caregiver in this role will work within a hospital pharmacy supported by a team of approximately 36 caregivers while participating in Cleveland Clinic's School of Pharmacy Technology, one of the few accredited hospital-based pharmacy technician programs in the United States. Through a 16-week accelerated apprenticeship, the caregiver will receive hands-on training in both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy settings while developing skills in medication preparation, distribution, inventory management, customer service and recordkeeping. Upon completion, graduates will earn a diploma in Pharmacy Technology and be prepared to pursue the national pharmacy technician certification exam. A caregiver in this position will work 16 weeks, Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm with the potential need to work evenings. This role pays a flat rate of $17/hour. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding). Deliver medications to appropriate storage locations. Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies. Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner. Attend and actively participate in team huddles and meetings. Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks. Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program per the student handbook. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED. Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months of hire. Upon hire, registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 12 months. Must obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 12 months. Basic computer skills
Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range Minimum hourly:
$15.00 Maximum hourly: $150.00 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
