Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will support pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing patient care processes, and ensuring compliance with all pharmaceutical regulations. Your expertise will help deliver exceptional patient service and uphold the highest standards of safety and accuracy in a fast-paced hospital or community pharmacy environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient health outcomes while working within a collaborative, patient-centered setting. Responsibilities Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including sterile IV admixture procedures and compounding medications using aseptic techniques. Manage medication inventory, perform data entry into pharmacy software systems, and ensure accurate medication labeling and documentation. Support patient intake processes, including verifying prescriptions, updating patient records, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Prepare and dispense medications accurately in accordance with state and federal pharmacy laws, drug regulation standards, and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance. Provide excellent patient service by answering questions, offering medication guidance, and supporting medication administration processes in hospital or community settings. Maintain strict adherence to hospital or community pharmacy protocols for sterile and non-sterile compounding, ensuring safety and quality standards are met at all times. Keep detailed records of medication dispensing, inventory levels, and regulatory documentation to support audit readiness and compliance. Qualifications Prior pharmacy technician experience in LTC (Long-Term Care), critical care, clinical pharmacy, or hospital pharmacy settings is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, medical terminology, pharmacological medical terminology, and aseptic technique. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications related to pharmacy practice are advantageous. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems for data entry, medication tracking, and inventory management. Strong understanding of state healthcare regulations, drug regulation policies, and federal pharmacy laws governing medication handling. Experience with IV infusion preparation, sterile IV admixture procedures, and hospital or acute care environments is highly desirable. Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient care, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting diverse patient needs.
