Job Description
Pharmacy Technician - CVS Pharmacy Position Summary The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist and pharmacy team in providing safe, accurate, and efficient prescription services to patients. This position assists with prescription processing, medication preparation, customer service, inventory management, insurance billing, and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment while following CVS policies and applicable state and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and process prescription orders accurately and efficiently.
- Enter patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Prepare, count, measure, label, and package medications under pharmacist supervision.
- Assist pharmacists with prescription verification and workflow activities.
- Provide friendly, professional customer service and respond to patient questions within the scope of the technician role.
- Process prescription payments, insurance claims, prior authorizations, and related billing issues as directed.
- Communicate with healthcare providers and insurance companies when appropriate.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and pharmacy regulations.
- Receive, stock, organize, and monitor pharmacy inventory.
- Identify medication shortages, expired products, and inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pharmacy workspace.
- Assist with pickup, drop-off, phone calls, and other pharmacy workflow activities.
- Follow CVS policies, procedures, quality standards, and applicable federal and state pharmacy laws.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the pharmacist or pharmacy manager. Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Pharmacy technician certification may be required or preferred depending on state requirements.
- State pharmacy technician registration or license as required.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
- Basic computer and data-entry skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a pharmacy team.
- Previous pharmacy, healthcare, retail, or customer-service experience is helpful but may not be required. Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, and lift pharmacy supplies as needed.
- Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
