Job Description Summary:
Responsible for assisting the Pharmacist by prepackaging, stocking, and maintaining inventory, and dispensing pharmaceuticals to patients. Ability to type 20 words a minute. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Licensure as Pharmacy Technician preferred. Under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Coordinator, responsible for an assigned shift as scheduled full time or part-time. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Acts as initial contact to the department either by phone or personal interaction solving problems or directing to appropriate personnel in a congenial manner. Determines the legal status of scheduled drugs and performs appropriate record-keeping and dispensing procedures. Accurate preparation and filing of written, telephone, faxed, and electronic prescriptions. Types, distributes, or files prescriptions, and other department materials. Determines priority of medications in relation to various delivery systems. Performs basic computer procedures. Prepare invoices for payment. Works with Social Services on the filling of Foundation and Patient Assistance program prescriptions. Place an order on wholesaler software and have a working knowledge of the software. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed. Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department. Troubleshoots, diagnoses problems, and performs routine maintenance on the PARATA robot. Troubleshoot with third-party prescription plans including Medicare Part D. Perform the daily operations of the cash register including opening, closing, preparation of reports, and cash deposits.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION
Technician Certification required MUST be registered with the State of Tennessee within 90 days of employment
EXPERIENCE
MUST have Pharmacy Technician experience, retail experience preferred.
