Job Description

A third level position in the pharmacy department, this employee will assist pharmacists and the pharmacy department team with providing medication services and pharmaceutical care to patients and customers. Required Knowledge & Skills

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

Three years of related experience. Requires broad knowledge of complex systems and procedures.

      Qualifications

      • Ability to pass a basic written competency examination. Must have a solid, working knowledge of medications: brand and generic names, dosage forms, common dosages, and common uses.
      • Ability to interact and work well as part of a team oriented environment.
      • Ability to work well in high volume, high stress situations.
      • Adapts positively to changes in workload and or work schedule.
      • Must exhibit leadership skills of being a good listener, being a good communicator, have the ability to make sound decisions, and being a good problem solver.

      • Must have completed the educational requirements and received certification to administer immunizations in the State of Georgia.
      • Three Years of related experience in a healthcare facility or six years of experience in a retail pharmacy setting. Functions
        Area of Responsibilities
      • Exhibits excellent customer relations to everyone. Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
      • Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits of greeting customers and patients, maintaining eye contact, and being courteous to all.
      • Responsible for screening and triaging incoming phone calls in a timely manner and the handling of those not requiring the attention of the pharmacist. Constant attention to detail is mandatory.
      • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization of pharmacy stock and work areas. Demonstrates effective organizational skills.
      • Displays a positive and professional image at all times. Complies with dress code and strives to act professionally in words and actions at all times.
      • Acknowledges patient's rights on confidentiality issues, maintains patient confidentiality at all times, and follows HIPPA guidelines and regulations.
      • Performs duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacist on Duty, and or Director of Pharmacy.
      • Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and checking for possible contraindications and interactions. Ensures that all information is entered accurately and in a timely manner.
      • Under the supervision of the pharmacist, is responsible for the accurate and timely filling of prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceuticals, verifying the correct medication. Assists the pharmacist in maintaining an efficient work flow.
      • Responsible for the immediate reporting of any medication errors or quality issues to the Pharmacy Manager and or Director of Pharmacy.
      • Responsible and accountable for registering all sales on the cash register, collecting and handling cash as required.
      • Responsible for processing (correcting and submitting) any manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
      • Assists and supports the Pharmacy with inventory management activities, when needed, such as: ordering, unpacking, checking-in, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals and supplies. Files claims for overages (items received, but not billed), shortages (items billed, but not received), and any order errors or damaged items.
      • Participates effectively as a team member by being accountable, helpful, and welcoming to co-workers, providers, patients, and customers.
      • Participates in orientation and staff development activities as requested.

      Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.
