Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Technician prepares and dispenses pharmaceutical medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, in compliance with state and federal regulations, departmental policies, and professional standards. The Pharmacy Technician interacts cooperatively and professionally with patients, healthcare providers, internal and external stakeholders and team members to provide excellent customer service in each interaction.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Processes prescribers' and departmental orders and accurately enters prescription/order information into the pharmacy software system to support the timely and accurate filling, dispensing, and billing of prescriptions and orders. Prepares and labels medications with a high degree of accuracy in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards ensuring that each prescription is reviewed and verified by a pharmacist prior to patient delivery. Communicates professionally with prescriber offices, insurance providers, and patients to resolve prescription fulfillment or billing-related issues, promoting timely and appropriate medication access and seamless coordination of care. Follows proper billing procedures for all prescriptions to ensure accurate payment from both patients and third-party payers, in alignment with reimbursement guidelines. Maintains inventory levels in accordance with departmental protocols to ensure the availability of medications and supplies necessary for daily pharmacy operations. Performs duties of the Pharmacy Assistant as needed to support pharmacy workflows and customer service. Maintains strict adherence to scheduled work hours with regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year of customer service experience required, with demonstrated proficiency in math as verified by a pre-employment assessment. Preferred Associate's degree in Pharmacy Technician studies or a Pharmacy Technician diploma. Preferred knowledge of Wisconsin pharmacy law and third-party reimbursement rules.CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
State of Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician registration or eligibility required. Registration must be obtained within three months of hire. Valid Wisconsin Driver's License required with an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR), per FHC guidelines.
