Job Description

Job Summary:
Register patients/specimens appropriately in the hospital information system with required information. Process physician orders for test specimen requirements; collect/receive specimens into the laboratory information system, utilizing appropriate technique and working exceptions as needed. Perform waived kit testing, as appropriate. Assist in front desk duties as well as outpatient workflow as needed. In the absence of the pathology assistant, function to process pathology specimens and reports as needed. Collect chain of custody urine drug screens and breathalyzer tests. Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences. Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Experience:
Six months of phlebotomy experience preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
Must have the ability to prioritize, multi-task, remain calm under stress, and communicate effectively. Basic computer skills required.
