Position Summary The Phlebotomist Per Diem is responsible for performing blood collection activities for the purpose of health assessment in the (department name) Pathology department at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. The Phlebotomist PD also performs all activities, pre-analytic analysis, analytic analysis, and data management under the direction of a California Licensed Supervisor as defined in Chapter 3 of State of California Business and Professions Code. Provides customer service communication via phone and face-to-face. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job Communicate effectively and courteously. Address customers using eye contact in a polite, expedient, and helpful tone of voice. Continually update knowledge to provide current and accurate information to those requesting assistance. Address and calm potentially tense situations. Make informed and educated decisions with little notice and minimal supervisor involvement. Act in a responsible and trustworthy manner at all times. Take responsibility when supervision is not available. Identify chain of command and utilize resources effectively by researching and resolving problems, situations and challenges routinely encountered during the work shift. Be at work and be on time. Follow company policies, procedures and directives. Interact in a positive and constructive manner. Prioritize and multitask. Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements Qualifications/Work Experience 2+ years of previous experience performing venipuncture on hospital based patient populations is preferred. Knowledge of specimen collection techniques, equipment, and specimen handling is required. Education/License/Certification Current California Phlebotomy Certificate is required, or eligible for certification.
