Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Phlebotomist, where your expertise in specimen collection and patient care will play a vital role in diagnostic testing and medical research. In this energetic role, you will engage with diverse patient populations, ensuring accurate blood sampling and specimen handling while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Collect, label, process, and transport specimens accurately following laboratory procedures and standards. Assist patients of all ages—including pediatrics and geriatrics—by providing compassionate care and clear instructions throughout the specimen collection process. Maintain detailed records of procedures, patient information, vital signs, and specimen data using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, and transportation to laboratories for analysis while complying with laboratory techniques and quality assurance measures. Support laboratory staff by preparing samples for testing, performing basic laboratory techniques, and maintaining a clean work environment. Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers to clarify orders, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort during collection activities. Skills Proficiency in laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen collection/processing methods. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory practices. Hands-on experience with venipuncture (blood sampling), phlebotomy procedures, and blood sample handling. Ability to perform vital signs measurement and recognize abnormal patient conditions; CPR/BLS certification is preferred. Familiarity with hospital environments, EMR/EHR systems, data entry accuracy, and patient service excellence. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and maintain focus during repetitive tasks. Pay:
$22.00 - $29.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
