CareNationDC is seeking a dependable, professional, and compassionate
•Phlebotomist
•to join our growing behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate is experienced in blood collection, specimen handling, infection-control procedures, and working respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Schedule:
Flexible; schedule will be based on program and patient needs ## Key Responsibilities The Phlebotomist will be responsible for: Performing venipuncture and other approved specimencollection procedures. Properly identifying patients prior to specimen collection. Labeling, processing, storing, and preparing specimens for laboratory pickup or transport. Following laboratory requirements for specimen integrity and chain of custody when applicable. Assisting with collection of laboratory specimens required as part of behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment. Maintaining accurate documentation of specimen collection. Following infectionprevention and universalprecaution procedures. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized collection area. Monitoring and maintaining phlebotomy and laboratory supplies. Communicating professionally with patients, clinical staff, nurses, providers, and laboratory representatives. Protecting patient privacy and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and CareNationDC policies. Immediately reporting specimen issues, patient reactions, safety concerns, or other clinical concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Providing a calm and supportive experience for individuals who may be anxious about blood draws or medical procedures. Performing other related duties within the employee's training and authorized scope of practice. ## Qualifications Candidates should possess: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited or recognized phlebotomy training program preferred. Phlebotomy certification preferred. Previous experience performing venipuncture and specimen collection. Strong understanding of infectioncontrol and bloodbornepathogen precautions. Excellent patient identification and specimenlabeling practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Ability to work effectively with individuals receiving mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment. Dependability, punctuality, and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Experience working in
•behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, outpatient healthcare, primary care, community health, or laboratory services
