care Full Job Description Medical Assistant - HIV/STI Testing & Programs We are looking for a motivated, dependable, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Testing & Programs Team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on patient care, education, and helping patients connect with the services and resources they need. This Medical Assistant will support the full testing experience, from patient check-in and documentation through specimen collection, testing, care navigation, post-test counseling, and connection to internal and external programs and resources. Responsibilities
- Check in patients and complete required testing documentation
- Perform phlebotomy and collect, process, and prepare specimens
- Perform HIV and other approved rapid tests
- Provide pre- and post-test education and counseling
- Provide care navigation and help identify patient needs and barriers to care
- Learn and maintain knowledge of available internal programs, community resources, and external assistance programs
- Educate patients about programs, services, and resources they may benefit from
- Connect and refer patients to appropriate internal and external resources
- Educate patients on HIV/STI prevention, PrEP, nPEP, testing, and treatment options
- Answer patient questions and provide a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental experience
- Coordinate with providers and other team members when additional care or support is needed
- Support patient follow-up and linkage to care
- Participate in program initiatives, trainings, and special projects as needed Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Phlebotomy experience required
- Proficiency in venipuncture and specimen collection is a must
- Strong communication and patient service skills
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
- HIV/STI testing, sexual health, care navigation, or community health experience is a plus
- Bilingual is preferred Training Florida
HIV/AIDS 500/501
certification is required. Candidates who are not currently certified are encouraged to apply. Training will be provided for the selected candidate to obtain certification. What We Offer
