Verifies the patient's records, enters data into the system, and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Processes specimens and demonstrates proper handling of samples. Instructs patients on Coumadin and performs limited waived testing. Maintains sample integrity by identification and labeling (2 identifiers). Maintains work area, supplies, and cleanliness. Mon-Thurs 8:30-5:30 & Fri 7:30-1:30 610 19th St, Columbus, GA Responsibilities Performs painless venipuncture and capillary puncture for the Coumadin clinic Identifies patient following protocol Prepares samples for processing w/correct label and bar code and inspects vials Reconciles outstanding sample report at day's end. Observe safety procedures and sample prep Support in leading the day-to-day operations of the site they are assigned. Clean up old orders and combine orders in Copia, know which tests are duplicates and which are necessary for measures. Able to process all samples for the site including correcting errors, short samples, or incorrect containers. Research and reprocess any sample alerts from the reference lab Demonstrate excellent guest service to internal team members and patients. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Phlebotomy certification or M.A. certification or certificate from a phlebotomy program. 4+ years of experience in Lab. Understand labeling/ID protocol, and knowledge of common lab tests, sample types, and vacutainers. Understand Biohazard, OSHA safety regulations for medical offices, and Universal precautions. Knowledge of test requirements and how to search Quest/LabCorp for esoteric tests. Ability to use, maintain, and guide on POCT devices to include quality control, maintenance, and patient testing. Ability to interpret miscellaneous order Ability to guide and observe new phlebotomists Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.Benefits:
