We are a multi-specialty group of physicians that specialize in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Vein Care, we also offer ultrasound, x-ray, in house labs for faster results, physical therapy, ekg's, immunizations and remote patient monitoring. Job Summary Responsible for obtaining and preparing specimens for analysis using knowledge of laboratory techniques. Job Duties & Responsibilities Clean and sterilize equipment, instruments, and work area. Prepare and gather equipment to efficiently collect specimens. Assist patients prior to, during, and after donation. Instruct patients on urine collection and blood draw procedures. Help nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draws. Verify patient information and labeling blood samples properly Accurately update patient information in the organization's database. Perform venipuncture, arterial, and capillary punctures on patients. Perform urine dipstick tests and allocate urine specimens. Maintain patient confidentiality by following HIPPA guidelines. Observe and follow OSHA, CLIA, COLA, and ADA guidelines. Order medical supplies and medication according to office policy. Perform any additional duties as requested by the physician or Practice Director to meet the needs of the clinic. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Professional certification in phlebotomy from a recognized program. Ability to successfully draw blood from patients with minimal or no complications. Strong knowledge of basic medical terminology. Evaluate Information to Determine Compliance with Standards. Plan and prioritize work using time-management skills. Organizational skills and the ability to multitask. Document and record information with extreme attention to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to demonstrate and maintain a compassionate attitude with others. Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with persons of varying personality types. Basic computer skills and the ability to operate simple to moderately complex software platforms. Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and manage change effectively. Use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions or approaches to problems. Minimum Education High School Diploma or Completion of a GED required. Minimum Work Experience Two or more years of experience working in an outpatient clinic setting as a medical assistant or phlebotomist preferred. Licenses/ Certifications Medical Assistant Certification or Phlebotomy Certification required. LPN license can be used in lieu of CMA certification. Physical Requirements Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
