Job Description

Description:
The Laboratory Assistant demonstrates clinical and technical competency in collection of specimens according to laboratory policy for hospital and clinic patients. He/she is responsible for processing specimens for the laboratory and placing test orders into the laboratory information system. He/she is responsible for specimen integrity for all referral testing. The Laboratory Assistant must be able to work with the growth and development needs of all ages of patients.

Part time or Full time 60
  • 74 hours per pay period
Schedule:
3
  • 4 days/week; OCAHS laboratory collection area is staffed Monday
  • Friday 6:00 am
  • 5:00 pm and shifts vary. Saturday morning is 6am
  • 12pm.
Educational Requirements:
Phlebotomy experience preferred. Ideally looking for a certified phlebotomist, Medical Assistant, or LPN. Will consider training the right candidate.
Other:
The Laboratory Assistant will work primarily in the phlebotomy area that services the hospital and clinic, but will also collect specimens from inpatients and ER patients. He/she must work well with patients and staff in the utmost professional and confidential manner. Flexibility in job duties is necessary. He/she must be a good communicator and team player.
