Joliet, IL Makena, IL, Marionette Park, IL, Palos Park, IL Oak Brook, Tenley Park, IL, Chicago, IL, Evanston, IL and Waukegan, IL Assignment Duration:
3 months
Work Schedule:
1st Shift | Candidates must be available between 6:00 AM - 7:30 PM depending on coverage location. Saturday availability required from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Position Summary The Phlebotomist II will serve as a float phlebotomist covering multiple Patient Service Center (PSC) locations throughout the Illinois territory, including Joliet, Mokena, Palos Park, Oak Brook, Tinley Park, Chicago, Evanston, Waukegan, and surrounding areas. This role requires a highly skilled phlebotomist with strong venipuncture experience across all patient age groups, from neonatal to geriatric. The candidate must be reliable, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in different PSC environments while maintaining excellent patient care and specimen quality standards. Key Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and specimen collection on patients of all age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Float between multiple PSC locations as needed to support staffing coverage. Process and prepare specimens accurately for laboratory testing. Ensure proper labeling, handling, and documentation of all specimens. Maintain workflow efficiency in fast-paced PSC environments. Provide excellent patient interaction and customer service during collections. Follow all safety, compliance, and quality procedures. Utilize computer systems for patient registration and specimen tracking (training provided). Qualifications & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum 3-4 years of recent phlebotomy experience required. Strong experience performing venipuncture on all age groups, including neonatal to geriatric patients. Must be a skilled phlebotomist capable of working independently with minimal training on blood draws. Reliable attendance and dependable transportation required due to float coverage responsibilities. Ability to adapt quickly to different PSC locations and workflows. Work Environment Float Patient Service Center (PSC) environment. Coverage across multiple Illinois locations. Fast-paced patient care setting. Frequent standing and movement throughout the shift. Independent work required depending on assigned site coverage. Training Training provided on internal computer systems and site workflows. No venipuncture training provided; candidate must already possess advanced phlebotomy skills. Vaccination & Compliance Requirements
