PHLEBOTOMIST II FULL-TIME - CROWN POINT LOCATION SIGN ON BONUS ELIGIBLE POSITION SUMMARY
The Phlebotomist serves as a liaison between the hospital laboratory and the patient by collecting blood specimens, urine, and other specimens from both inpatients and outpatients including outreach phlebotomy, under general supervision, according to prescribed aseptic technique, for use in clinical and diagnostic laboratory testing. The Phlebotomist is capable of handling problem-solving regarding appropriate specimen collection, handling, delivery of specimens to the main laboratory for analysis, test order and specimen information entry in LIS, and performs incidental clerical, cleaning and supply duties. Also, this phlebotomist may cover the following workstations: Medical Assistant, and/or support services workstations. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, Charge/Lead Phlebotomist and Laboratory Administrative Director/Site Laboratory Manager.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required High School Graduate or Equivalent Successful completion of an accredited Phlebotomy certification program, or EMT Basic program with current license, or licensed Paramedic Registered or eligible with
NPA/NCA/ASPT/NHA/ASCP.
Must obtain certification within 1 year of hire. Full-time, Days/Evenings, Varying start times
