Job Description

Hillsboro Community Hospital is looking for a Phlebotomist to add to our team. Hillsboro Community Hospital is a 15 bed critical access hospital. We pride ourselves on providing top quality care for Hillsboro and the surrounding area of Marion County. Services include diagnostic and therapeutic services, 24 hour emergency care, outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures, convenient and specialized outpatient resources, and other services designed to improve the health and well-being of our community.
The Phlebotomist:
Works under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager Collects blood and other specimens from hospital patients and clinic outpatients for laboratory analysis or medical purposes Arranges daily activities based on urgency of requests Determines the right venipuncture method based on patient age, health, etc. Finds veins that are suitable for puncture Labels samples correctly and send out for testing Reassures patients and answers questions Maintains work area and equipment
Phlebotomist Physical Requirements:
Medium Work While Exertion Frequently required to stand and talk or hear Frequently required to walk Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
