We are looking for a confident phlebotomist with excellent venipuncture technique—not simply someone who meets the minimum certification requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate consistent success with routine and challenging blood draws while minimizing patient discomfort, bruising, re-sticks, specimen rejection, and collection-related errors. This position also performs clinical and non-clinical specimen collections, specimen processing, administrative support, and routine laboratory operations. Accuracy, professionalism, confidentiality, and an exceptional patient experience are essential to this role. Key Responsibilities Perform safe and efficient venipuncture, including difficult draws, using proper vein-selection and blood-collection techniques. Select appropriate collection tubes and follow the correct order of draw. Prevent common causes of hemolysis, clotting, insufficient volume, contamination, and specimen rejection. Collect blood, urine, oral fluid, hair, nail, and DNA specimens according to established procedures. Perform drug-testing and breath-alcohol collections, including required chain-of-custody documentation. Verify patient identity, test orders, collection requirements, and specimen information. Accurately label, centrifuge, aliquot, freeze, store, package, and prepare specimens for reference-laboratory pickup. Follow handling, timing, temperature, infection-control, and safety requirements to protect specimen integrity. Maintain accurate records and enter patient, client, and testing information into laboratory systems. Provide calm, courteous, and professional service to patients who may be anxious or uncomfortable. Protect patient privacy and maintain strict confidentiality. Assist with phones, email correspondence, filing, inventory, stocking, sanitizing, and other laboratory duties. Complete required training and perform other duties assigned by the Lab Manager. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Current phlebotomy technician certification from a recognized credentialing organization. Minimum 12 months of hands-on phlebotomy experience. Demonstrated proficiency in routine and difficult venipuncture. Strong knowledge of specimen collection, processing, handling, and rejection-prevention procedures. Excellent attention to detail and accurate labeling, documentation, and data-entry skills. Strong computer skills and the ability to learn laboratory and client-ordering systems. Professional communication skills and a calm, patient-focused approach. Ability to follow detailed procedures and work independently. Dependable attendance, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record. Professional appearance, conduct, and strict adherence to confidentiality requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience preparing clinical specimens for reference laboratories. Experience with drug-testing or forensic chain-of-custody collections. Experience collecting oral fluid, hair, nail, breath or DNA specimens. Experience in an independent laboratory, patient service center, or clinical setting.

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
