First Shift | 32 Hours per Week We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our team serving the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. This position is ideal for a skilled phlebotomist who is confident performing venipuncture on patients with difficult veins and who thrives in an independent, fast-paced healthcare environment. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality specimen collection services while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while following all established clinical and safety protocols. Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and other specimen collections using proper collection techniques. Demonstrate confidence and proficiency with difficult blood draws. Correctly identify patients and ensure specimen labeling accuracy. Prepare, package, and transport specimens according to laboratory requirements. Maintain accurate and complete documentation for all patient encounters and specimen collections. Adhere to all HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and company policies and procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Provide compassionate, respectful, and professional care to all patients. Communicate effectively with correctional healthcare staff, laboratory personnel, and team members. Report specimen collection issues or concerns promptly and professionally. Ensure quality standards are met while working with minimal supervision. Represent the company with professionalism and integrity at all times. Qualifications Previous phlebotomy experience required. Strong venipuncture skills with the ability to perform difficult blood draws. Current phlebotomy certification preferred but not required if permitted by state regulations. Excellent patient care and customer service skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently. Reliable transportation and punctual attendance. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism in a correctional healthcare setting. Comfortable working in a secure correctional environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequent use of hands for specimen collection and documentation. Ability to lift and transport specimen collection supplies and equipment. Visual acuity sufficient to perform venipuncture and accurately label specimens.
